What Gewape Cloud Backup delivers
Backup for Mac, Windows and Linux computers and servers, locked for 30 days and checked for ransomware.
Install the Gewape Cloud Backup app on a laptop, desktop or server, choose a backup policy, and it backs up on schedule. You manage every protected computer and server from Backup & Recovery in the Gewape Cloud Platform.
Each backup copy is locked for 30 days once it is written. Nobody can delete or change it during that time, so ransomware or a stolen password cannot wipe out your backups. After every backup we also look for signs of an attack and tell you when something looks wrong.
Servers and volumes that already run on Gewape Cloud need no app: protect them from their page in the console with one click.
Locked for 30 days
Every backup copy is locked when it is written. For 30 days nobody can delete or change it, so ransomware or a stolen password cannot erase your backups.
Early warning on ransomware
After each backup we check for mass file rewriting, ransom notes and mass renaming. When it looks like an attack, the account owner gets an alert in the console and by email.
Your backups stay in your region
Backups stay in the region you select in the Gewape Cloud Platform, and every copy is encrypted.

Start Backup & Recovery
In the Gewape Cloud Platform check the region in the header, open Backup & Recovery and click Start Backup & Recovery. Backups are kept in that region.

Add what to protect
Click Protect something, download the app for the computer or server, get a one-time code and run the two commands shown. For a Gewape Cloud server or volume, click Protect on its page instead.

Pick a policy
Use a ready-made daily policy or create your own: what time to back up and how many recent, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly copies to keep.

Backups run and are checked
Each copy is locked for 30 days when it is written. After every backup we look for signs of ransomware and alert the account owner in the console and by email.

How much does Gewape Cloud Backup cost?

What does "stored" mean on my bill?
What is in your backup vault after compression and deduplication, which is usually much less than the data on your devices. Copies that change little add little.
Can anyone delete my backups?
Every copy is locked for 30 days once it is written. During that time nobody can delete or change it, including someone signed in with your password.
What gets backed up on a computer?
Every user's Documents, Desktop and Pictures, automatically. On a server you choose the folders, starting from the usual places such as /etc, /home and /var/www on Linux or C:\Users on Windows.
Can I back up a database?
Yes. Add the folder where its exports (dumps) are saved to the server backup, rather than its live data files.
Where are my backups stored?
In the region selected in the Gewape Cloud Platform header when you start Backup & Recovery, and every copy is encrypted.
Will a restore overwrite my files?
No. Files come back in a new folder beside the original, and a cloud volume comes back as a new volume, so you can compare before replacing anything.
What happens if a computer is off or offline?
It shows Missed backups until it checks in again, then catches up by itself. Files a program keeps locked are skipped and counted, so one file never stops the rest.
How am I billed?
By the hour from the moment data is stored, in your account currency, with your other Gewape Cloud services: from your wallet, or on your monthly invoice if your account is invoiced.
